Power cos to pay in case of electricity cuts in Delhi, from next month

Under the new rule, the consumers are eligible for Rs 50 an hour compensation in case of untimely power cut

The Delhi government has made a new rule and got it approved from the Lt Governor.

Under the new rule, the consumers are eligible for Rs 50 an hour compensation in case of untimely power cut.

The scheme is to be implemented from next month.

The implementing agency will be the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission.

It was informed that consumers would be eligible for compensation incase power cut is over and above an hour.

The Kejriwal government had approved of the scheme on April 17 of this year.

The power companies would be exempt from the compensation for the first hour but they would be have to pay up incase the power cut is more than once in a day.

The Delhi government said that power situation has improved over the past many months.
