Proposal for Junior Commonwealth Games Fencing Championship for year 2017-18

Raipur: The new body of the Chhattisgarh State Fencing Association was held for year 2017-21 in which the candidates were elected unopposed. Patron is Raja Ranvijay Singh Judeo, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Chhattisgarh, President Sonmoni Borah (IAS), secretary, sports and youth welfare department, Government of Chhattisgarh, while working president is Sunil Ramdas Agrawal, Raigarh, Association working president is Anil Serawat, Korba, Chief convenor is Ajit Singh Patel of Raipur, senior vice president is Rajendra Dekate, Assistant director, Sports and Youth Welfare department, Raipur district, vice president Harioam Agrawal, Raigarh district, Rajiv Choubey (Durg), K Rajshekhar, BSP Bhilai and Samir Khan of Durg.

Patron: Raja Ranvijay Singh Judeo, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Chhattisgarh.

The associate vice president are Rampuri Goswami (Bilaspur), Suresh Sharma and Kamal Chouhan both from Durg, Alok Mishra from Baloda Bazaar and Ajay Naidu of Mahasamund. The general secretary is Bashir Ahmed Khan while joint secretaries are Nikhil Kumar Jambulkar. Vivek Arora (Durg), Santosh Sahu (Bilaspur) and Arti Singh (Raipur) while the association joint secretaries are Indu Nishad (Bilaspur) Madan Kurrey (Bastar), Hemant Sonwani (Rajnandgaon) and Dharnidhar Yadav (Raigarh). Treasurer is Ram Pratap Gupta from Durg. The executive members are Umesh Singh (Durg), Akhilesh Dubey (Raipur), Dilip Rawat (Balod), Pramod Tiwari (Bemetara) and Avinash Chouhan (Kabirdham).

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Fencing Association 11th general body meeting was held at Bhilai. President and working president were not present due to which vice president Bashir Ahmed Khan chaired the meeting.

India Fencing Federation general secretary and Maharashtra Fencing Association generation secretary Uday Dongre was observer to the meeting while Chhattisgarh Olympic Association observer was Chhattisgarh State Judo Association general secretary Arun Dwivedi while Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Chhattisgarh observer was Sports and Youth Welfare department, Durg assistant director A Ekka. The election for new body for year 2017-21 was held in presence of advocate Subash Satpathi.

As per the general body agenda, the working report of 10th general body meeting, general secretary annual report for year 2016-17, financial year account for year 2016-17, expected budget for year 2017-18, appointment of auditor for audit for year 2017-18, proposal for annual sports calendar for year 2017-18 were passed by voice vote.

As per the annual sports calendar for year 2017-18 Sub-Junior (less than 14 years) boys and girls at State Level Fencing Championship at Bhilai in first week of August 2017, Junior (Under 20 years) Boys-Girls Chhattisgarh State Level Fencing Championship, Bhilai in first week of August 2017, Senior women and women Chhattisgarh State Level Fencing Championship would be held at Raipur in month of September and Cadet (Under 17 years) and Youth (Under 23 years) Boys and Girls Chhattisgarh State Level Selection event would be organized at Bhilai in the last week of August proposals were also cleared by the meeting.

Similarly, the Fencing sports development, progress along with publicity points were also cleared after discussion.

As per suggestion of President Sonmoni Borah, IAS, secretary sports and youth welfare department, for progress, development and publicity of the fencing sports, in state two training centres would be opened, one at Raipur and the other at Bhilai. The centres would be imparting free of cost training to the players year around.

In all the districts, Fencing Associations would be constituted which would be duly registered under Firms and Societies Act and the financial assistance and schemes would be extended to these bodies for promoting the sports among the upcoming talents from all the districts of state. NIS trainers of Fencing would be appointed in the districts for imparting training on contract basis.

A decision was taken for construction of multipurpose hall through assistance from state government for the Fencing sports at Raipur/Bhilai so that players get better opportunities for practice on regular basis.

After the election process was completed, the new body held discussion on holding the Asian Cadet Circuit (Under 17 years) International Fencing Championship at Raipur for year 2017-18 at Raipur for which all the members cleared it with voice vote.

The second proposal was for hosting the Junior Commonwealth Games Fencing Championship for year 2017-18 at Raipur which was also cleared by voice vote.
