Protests turn violent in Allahabad varsity; on violent death of law student

A day after protests turned violent over the atrocious death of a law student, police and Rapid Action Force had to be deployed to prevent escalation of violence in the Allahabad university.

It need be mentioned that the law student identified as 26-yr-old Dileep Saroj was beaten to death after he got into argument with a group of youngsters.

The incident happened outside a restaurant on February 9.

He was a Dalit and resident of the Pratapgarh district.

It was particularly agonizing after a video of the incident went viral on social media leading to the arrests of three persons on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Mannu Chauhan, Gyan Prakash Awasthi and Ram Deen Maurya with Vijay Shankar Singh identified as main accused and absconding now.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday expressed his condolence and announced an Rs 20 lakh has ex-gratia for the victim’s family.
