Puducherry Guv withholds ‘no toilet no rice’ scheme; after criticism

She tweeted her latest decision too and said that this should help in laying to rest the misgivings on the issue

Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi may have ordered ‘no free rice’ until villages become litter free and open defecation free but she now directed for the order to be withheld.

This after she came under immense criticism from the different sections of the society over her diktat ‘no toilet, no rice’ order.

The Governor clarified that she intended to improve the living conditions of rural poor.

She tweeted her latest decision too and said that this should help in laying to rest the misgivings on the issue.

She however said that it was in view of the poor sanitation condition in rural Puducherry during her visits that she made the decision in the first place.

It need be mentioned that DMK Working President M K Stalin, in a tweet, released a copy of her letter to Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy in which she apprised him that she has directed the Director of Civil Supplies in this regard.
