One of the few states where Congress still has its own government and also a chief minister, Punjab.
But the Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh is aggrieved at what he sees as attempts by the opposing BJP to create a wedge between him and the Congress high command.
The issue came to fore when Prime Minister Modi on Saturday that the Congress did not even consider the Punjab chief minister as their own.
He went on to claim that Amarinder Singh is more like an independent soldier.
However, Amarinder Singh was quick to retort that Prime Minister’s remarks as part of the BJP’s futile attempts to create a wedge between him and the Congress high command through frivolous statements ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He went on to say that he knows how to manage relationship with the Congress high command.
He said that his current priority is to bring Punjab out of the mess into which the BJP, in alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), had plunged the state.
