Punjab govt reiterates on no shortage of urea

There is no shortage of urea in the state as 85% urea has already been made available to the farmers during current Rabi season, said spokesman of Government of Punjab.

Punjab requires 12.50 Lac Metric tons of Urea in current Rabi season till 31st of January, 2019 against which 10.60 Lac tons of Urea has already reached the state.

Another 40,000 Metric tons of Urea shall arrive in State in next four days. Balance quantity of urea has already been tied up to arrive in the days to come.

Sufficient quantity of urea has already been made available in Cooperative Societies of the state. Against the total demand of 5.81 Lac tons of Urea in the cooperative sector, a quantity of 5.04 Lac tons (87%) of urea has already been supplied to cooperative societies.

During current Rabi season Wheat has been sown in about 35 Lac hectares in Punjab and the application of urea in wheat continues up to 31st of January .

State govt is closely monitoring the supplies and sales of urea to the farmers in the State and there is no question of any shortage, said the spokesman.
