In a major breakthrough, the Raipur police today nabbed a gang comprising of Nigerian nationals for luring the women into friendship and then blackmailing them for money.
The Raipur Superintendent of Police Amresh Mishra told media persons that the gang used to make friendship with the womenfolk through one or the other social media platforms.
They used to procure intimate pictures and videos from the women and the they used to blackmail them for money.
Raipur police informed that such a case was reported in Civil Lines police station after which the police began probe.
The victim woman told police that Nigerian gang people sweet-talked her into giving out such pictures and videos in the name of love and then began to blackmail her.
She had, as per police sources, deposited to the tune of Rs seven lakhs in different accounts as part of being blackmailed.
Police have finally nabbed four members of the gang who revealed how they outwitted other women in similar manner.
Police have also recovered 10 laptops and more than 20 mobiles, tablets along with passports and cash from them.
