Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi unveiled many important development works for people of the state, during his short tour to Chhattisgarh today.

Prime Minister reached Raipur from New Delhi via special flight of Indian Air Force, and then reached Naya Raipur with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, where he inaugurated Integrated Command and Control Centre at head office building of Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA).

In this centre, the fast developing public facilities such as electricity, water, road, telecommunication and cleanliness in Naya Raipur will be monitored online. Local citizens will be able to report their grievances related such services directly to the Integrated Command and Control Centre through Helpline.

First Integrated Command and Control Centre of the country equipped with GPS System

After this programme, Prime Minister along with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh reached Bhilainagar- one of the important industrial destinations of the country, where he inaugurated upgrading and expansion related works worth Rs 18 thousand 500 crore in Bhilai Steel Plant amid massive public gathering.

It is noteworthy that Bhilai Steel Plant is the first steel plant of Chhattisgarh established in year 1955 under public sector. In 1962 the annual production capacity of this plant was one million ton, which has increased to more than 4 million ton at present. Prime Minister Mr. Modi had a brief tour to Bhilai Steel Plant as well.

As Prime Minister of the country, it was the fifth tour of Mr. Modi to Chhattisgarh in last three years and second in last two months, while it was his first visit to Bhilainagar as Prime Minister. After taking charge as Prime Minister, Mr. Modi’s first tour to Chhattisgarh was on May 9, 2015. Later, he attended programmes held in Naya Raipur and Rajnandgaon districts on February 21, 2015. Third time, he had visited Chhattisgarh as Chief Guest of Rajyotsav held on November 1, 2016. His fourth tour was held two months back on April 14 on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti to village Jawanga (Bijapur district) of Bastar Division of state, where he had commenced nation-wide Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and had also inaugurated first health and wellness centre of the country under the first phase of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Raipur-Jagdalpur-Vishakhapatnam Passenger Flight Service Launched

Chhattisgarh gets the gift of domestic flight service

During his tour today, Mr. Modi also inaugurated the first domestic flight service for people of Chhattisgarh. He inaugurated Jagdalpur airport and also the passenger flight service of Jagdalpur-Raipur-Vishakhapatanam for providing affordable air services to common people under Udaan Project of Central Government. Under this service, a private flight of 19-seat capacity will shorten the journey from Raipur to Jagdalpur to only 40 minutes at an affordable ticket price of Rs 1670. It is noteworthy that for the first time after the formation of state, this passenger flight service has been started on the initiative of Chief Minister, under the policy of state and centre to give topmost priority to the development of Bastar region. Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Mr. Modi for the initiative.

Foundation laying of Bhilai IIT at hands of Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mr. Modi laid foundation of the magnificent premise of IIT in Bhilainagar, at the general assembly held in Jayanti Stadium today. It is noteworthy that IIT was sanctioned in Bhilainagar by Centre, on request of State Government led by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and it was established in year 2016.

This is the 23rd IIT of India. This campus will be developed in three phases in Bhilainagar, where 7500 students will be able to attain technical education. Central Government has alloted Rs one thousand 082 crore in the first phase for IIT, Bhilai. Presently, this institute is being conducted in Government Engineering College premise in Sejbahar, capital city Raipur.

After completion of the construction work by year 2020, this institute will be permanently operated in the magnificent campus of 445 acres in Sirsakhurd near Khuthebhantha area of Bhilai in Durg district. Construction of the campus will begin in September 2018.

This building will be environment-friendly and energy efficient. IIT (Bhilainagar) is presently providing courses such as B.Tech. and M.Tech. in computer science, electrical, and mechanical subjects and Ph.D in six subjects- mathematics, chemistry, computer science, physics, electrical and mechanical engineering. 25 senior and experienced professors from across the country and abroad are rendering their services here.

Second phase of Bharat Net Project inaugurated

Prime Minister Mr. Modi inaugurated the second phase of Bharat Net Project of Central Government at the general assembly held in Bhilainagar. 5987 Gram Panchayats out of more than 10 thousand Gram Panchayats of Chhattisgarh will be provided internet facility by BSNL.

Network of optical fibers is being developed for the same. Optical fibers are being laid at a total distance of 32 thousand 466 km, which includes 5.66 km long optical fibers in each gram panchayat on an average.

It is noteworthy that in the first phase of Bharat Net Project, four thousand 104 Gram Panchayats have been provided internet connectivity by BSNL. After completion of second phase, all the villages of the state will have internet facility. Under this project, Government of India has sanctioned Rs one thousand 674 crore, along with Rs 392 crore as an opex for three years.

Bharat Net project is being implemented in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of state government as a model. For this, Chhattisgarh Government has selected Messors Tata Project Limited. Under the leadership of Chief Minisetr Dr Raman Singh, State Government will be distributing free smartphones to 50 lakh families under Sanchar Kranti Yojana (SKY). Beneficiaries of SKY will get better internet connectivity under Bharat Net Project. State Government will be distributing smartphones worth Rs 1200 crore to these families under SKY scheme.

It is noteworthy that Bharat Net Project will strengthen the telephone and internet connectivity in rural areas of the state. This will also help people of rural areas to avail Sanjeevani 108 and Mahtari Express 102 toll-free services and many other e-services.

Goods and Cheques distributed to Beneficiaries

Prime Minister Mr. Modi also formally concluded the first phase of state-wide Vikas Yatra 2018, which was being conducted from May 12 under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh. Second phase will commence from August 16 to September 30.

Mr. Modi distributed goods and cheques of financial aid to many beneficiaries under various schemes of Chhattisgarh Government, at the general assembly of Jayanti Stadium of Bhilainagar. He distributed laptops to college students under Chhattisgarh Yuva Soochna Kranti Scheme, LPG connection to women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and distributed cheques to beneficiary women under Pradhan mantra Matravandana Yojana.

Mr. Modi distributed aabaadi patta to beneficiaries on behalf of state government. He also distributed e-rickshaws. Mr. Modi distributed cheques to beneficiaries under Central Government’s Stand up scheme, Mudra Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana.
