Chief Minister and Chhattisgarh Olympic Academy President Dr. Raman Singh late last evening said that shooting, archery and water sports academy will be opened at Bastar Divisional headquarter town Jagdalpur.
The National Mineral Development Corporation (N.M.D.C.) had sanctioned Rs 20 crore to set-up the sports complex. The total investment will be around Rs. 90 crore and the NMDC management had already allocated Rs 20 crore for the purpose. Dr. Raman Singh disclosed at a meeting of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association working committee meeting.
Dr. Raman Singh said that Rs 16 crore had been allocated for the athletic academy at Raipur in the 2018-2019 Budget and separate funds had been set-apart for athletic academy at Surguja also. Both the academies will be started soon.
Chief Minister also said that Tennis Academy had been sanctioned in principle. Astro-Turf of international standards is nearing completion at Jashpur. The meeting reviewed the preparations for the 37th National Games in Chhattisgarh.
Five kilometre run will be organized in the State on the occasion of Olympic Day on 23 June.Chief Minister added that efforts are being made to built ultra-modern infrastructure in the State. ‘Open Gym’ will be built in two thousand schools soon. Thirty-one stadia and 60 mini-stadia are being built in the villages at a cost of Rs 50-Rs.70 lakhs. Thirty-two stadia had been sanctioned from the Districts Minerals Funds.
Dr. Raman Singh felicitated Joint Secretary Chhattisgarh Olympic Association and Chef de Mission of Indian team Mr. Vikram Singh Sisodia for the Indian teams stellar performance at the Commonwealth Games Australia recently.
Chhattisgarh Fencing Association President Mr. Basheer Ahmad Khan was also felicitated on his becoming Associate Executive member of Indian Olympic Association. Sports Secretary Mr.R. Prasanna gave a detailed presentation of the 36th National Games to be held in Goa soon and 37th national Games to be held in Chhattisgarh.
He added that latest sports equipments and International standards coach are being provided. MP Mr. Ramesh Bais, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr.Ajay Chandrakar, Urban Administration Minister Mr. Amar Agrawal, Internation Hockey player Mrs. Neeta Dumru, Chhattisgarh Olympic Association Secretary Mr. Sanjay Misra, Treasurer Dr. vishnu Srivastav and office-bearers of various sports’ associations were also present.
