Fans of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar have been waiting with bated breath for Shankar’s ambitious sci-fi film, 2.0. From Diwali 2017 to Republic Day 2018, the release of 2.0 kept getting pushed, but it has now been confirmed that the film will hit the screens on April 27, 2018.
Incidentally, the new release date of 2.0 has a Baahubali connection – a year ago, on April 28, 2017, Baahubali 2 took the country by storm. The SS Rajamouli film, which starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan and Tamannaah in leading roles, smashed several box office records and went on to earn over Rs 1500 crore worldwide.
We already know that 2.0 is ahead of Baahubali 2 in one respect – the number of screens. While Baahubali 2 was released in over 6500 screens in India, the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer is expected to release in over 7000 screens in the country.

2.0 is touted to be the most expensive Indian film ever made, with a staggering budget of Rs 450 crore.
<>It was said to be a sequel to Shankar’s 2010 hit Enthiran/Robot, but the filmmaker revealed at the press meet before the film’s audio launch that 2.0 was not a sequel, but a completely different film.<>
