The Rajya Sabha, was adjourned twice today first for five minutes before noon and then till 2 PM, following uproar by the Opposition over the reported remarks by Minister of State for Skill Development Anant Kumar Hegde.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel said that Hegde’s reported statement on Indian Constitution has been twisted.
Mr Goel said, he has already clarified his stand and regretted in the Lok Sabha as well as outside the House. He said that Hegde also said that he has full faith in the constitution and Dr. B R Ambedkar’s ideals.
Raising the issue, Congress members demanded the resignation of Mr. Hegde. Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said, yesterday the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs already clarified that the government does not subscribe to Hegde’s statement. He later adjourned the house for 15 minutes.
The situation was no different when the House re-assembled.
Opposition Congress members shouted slogans. The Chair then adjourned the House till 2 pm.>
