Rana Sodhi condoles demise of eminent sports commentator Jasdev Singh

His commentary made him a household name at a time when Television was just making it's headway into the homes of the people.

Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has expressed profound grief and shock over the demise of eminent sports commentator Jasdev Singh who passed away today at the age of 87.

Deeply condoling the demise of Jasdev Singh, Rana Sodhi recalled his association with the former when he (Rana Sodhi) participated in the 1978 Asian Games.

The minister further said that Jasdev Singh regaled the people throughout the country with his flawless commentary in Olympics, Asian Games and World Cup.

His commentary made him a household name at a time when Television was just making it’s headway into the homes of the people.

His commentary skills were also visible during the numerous Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

He was awarded Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Rana Sodhi prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
