With the nun rape case of Kerala rattling the national news media, the victim herself has now alleged that the accused, Bishop Mullakal, was using his money to influence the case.
In a big development in the case, the victim has now written to the Vatican about her case.
She alleges that the accused Bishop of Jalandhar Franco Mullakal raped her multiple times.
She is now hoping to get the Vatican to intervene in the case.
The Catholics Bishop’s Conference of India has also confirmed that the matter will be raised before the Pope.
The Indian Bishops Organisation has also reportedly written to the Vatican that the accused Bishop should step down from the post till the probe is complete.
A special team investigating the case had earlier told the Kerala High Court that initial probe by the police had revealed that the Bishop had abused his power and had raped a nun from Kerala on multiple occasions.
The crime, as per allegation, took place between 2014 and 2016.
Despite the outrage by the community over the allegations, the Missionaries has denied the charges against the Bishop. >
