Row breaks out over ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, heres latest

There is row in national polity now days prior to the release of the movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’.

The film is said to be a biopic based on former PM Manmohan Singh’s 10-year tenure in office.

But the manner in which the film appears to be portraying the Congress senior leadership including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi is what has caused an uproar.

While Congress denounced it as a propaganda effort in the national election year, the BJP saying the main opposition was being
duplicitous in running down the film.

The movie is said to be based on a book by Singh’s former media advisor Sanjaya Baru.

BJP said it was a “riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years”.

Senior leader PL Punia added that the gimmick was intended to hide the government’s failures.

Reacting to the controversy, film actor Anupam Kher said, “The more they protest, more publicity they will give to the film.”
