Rs 11,300 cr PNB scam; Abhishek Singhvi threatens legal action against Defence Min Sitharaman
With the Rs 11300 crores Punjab National Bank scam having unfolded, there is rush for political blame game and each of the major political party is blaming the other for the scam.
It need be mentioned that the scam involves celebrity designer Nirav Modi.
It is in this context that Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today launched an attack on Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi.
Minister Sitharaman alleged that the Nirav Modi-run Firestar Diamond International had taken on lease a property of a company in which Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s wife is a director.
She alleged that the property of Adwait Holdings Private Limited whose directors are wife and son of Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi is rented to Nirav Modi’s jewellery company in Mumbai.
She added that both companies have also done loan transactions.
Singhvi, however, was quick to issue a rebuttal and denied any family links with the billionaire designer Nirav Modi or for that matter Gitanjali group owner Mehul Choksi.
He said that Nirav Modi’s company was a tenant of a Kamla Mills property owned by Adwait Holdings in which my wife and sons are directors.
Singhvi also said that Adwait holdings owns a commercial property at Parel, as it does elsewhere, which was rented by Firestone many years ago.
Calling the allegations as sensationalism and falsehood, Singhvi, who is also a leading advocate has threatened to sue Sitharaman.>
