With nuke treaties now endangered between Russia and United States, the former country insisted that it is open to discussing solutions aimed at preventing an arms race with the United States.
Russia is also said to have been batting for the extension of the new START treaty.
The START treaty is due to expire in year 2021.
This comes in the wake of both USA and Russia formally suspending their obligations under the Cold War-era Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
The new START or Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty was signed between Moscow and Washington in 2010 and came into force in 2011.
