Russian tourist gets beaten up; mistaken as thief; in Telangana

He assumed that the tourist must be a thief and began beating him black and blue with a torch

A Russian tourist took refuge in a farm in Telangana due to sudden thunderstorm and this proved costly for him.

This is because the farmer who owned the farmland came in to inspect the farm and found the Russian tourist squatted inside a tent with a bicycle nearby.

He assumed that the tourist must be a thief and began beating him black and blue with a torch.

The other villagers also rushed in and joined him in the beating.

The Russian tourist has been identified as V Oleg and was headed from Telangana to Shirdi in Maharshtra by a cycle.

He had to be subsequently admitted to the Osmania General Hospital as he had
sustained injuries on his head, jaw and right arm.

The 44-year-old Russian was on his way Nizamabad when near Bhiknoor village he came across a thunderstorm that forced him to stop and take shelter.

The farmer who attacked the guest has been identified as Mahender Reddy.
