Sameer Wankhede Removed From Drugs On Cruise Probe

Senior officer Sanjay Singh will be the charge of the Mumbai zone

The NCB officer Sameer Wankhede leading the investigation into the Aryan Khan drugs case, and against whom allegations of a Rs.8 crore payoff and extortion have been made has been removed from the investigating team.

Special investigation team, to be led by senior police officer Sanjay Singh, will take over the Aryan Khan case as well as four others that were being handled by Sameer Wankhede.

Sameer Wankhede has been at the centre of a major controversy after allegations from Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik and, more importantly, from Prabhakar Sail, an NCB witness in the Aryan Khan case.

Sameer Wankhede, while talking to media, said that NCB’s team from Delhi will reach Mumbai on Saturday to take charge of the six cases that have been transferred to them. “I have not been removed from the investigation. It was my writ petition in court that the matter is probed by a central agency. So Aryan case and Sameer Khan case are being probed by Delhi NCB. It’s coordination between NCB teams of Delhi and Mumbai,”.

Wankhede will remain the zonal director of the NCB’s Mumbai unit.
