‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ organized in Mumbai; opposition to meet again in Delhi soon
Almost the entire opposition was represented in the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ organized in Mumbai on Friday.
The Samvidhan Bachao Rally, which loosely translates to Save the Constitution march was aimed at criticism of the central government’s silence against deteriorating law and order situation, increasing joblessness and frustration among youth apart from growing discontent among farmers.
Attended by Alpesh Thakur, Hardik Patel, Sharad Pawar, Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, D Raja and Sushilkumar Shinde who were amongst the prominent ones. The rally was convened by Swabhimani Sanghatana leader Raju Shetti.
NCP leaders Praful Patel and D P Tripathi and former MP Ram Jethmalani were also present. The Trinamool Congress deputed Dinesh Trivedi, former railway minister, for the march.
Many leaders pointed to what they termed to be an undeclared emergency.
Pawar said this was the beginning of a concerted effort by the opposition to raise the issue of threat to the Constitution.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties are slated to meet again in Delhi on January 29 to decide the future course of action.
