Urban Development and Town and Country Planning Minister Sarveen Chaudhary has been honoured with the Smart City Person of the year award by BW Businessworld media group.
The award was presented to her by the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of BW Businesswolrd Annurag Batra during the 6th edition of BW Smart Cities conclave and awards in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarveen Chaudhary said that apart from providing much deserved recognition to the best performing cities in the country, this conclave has also acted as a guiding light to other aspiring smart cities like Shimla and Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh.
She said the Smart City Mission was the flagship programme of the government of India which envisages smart solutions for infrastructure and services, citizen friendly services, reduced congestion and walk able green cities.
The Urban development Minister said that the Himachal government was committed to take forward the opportunity offered by the Smart City Mission and making Shimla and Dharamshala as the best and most livable cities of the country, with world class standards of infrastructure and citizen delivery.
Together, the two cities have envisaged an investment of Rs. 5000 crore with 53 projects in Shimla and 74 in Dharamshala.
She invited the industry and business to come forward and participate wholeheartedly in the smart city projects of Shimla and Dharamshala cities.
The wide array of projects from infrastructure to e-governance offers the industries and business the opportunity to be part of the growth of these two hill cities.>
