SC reserves order; on SIT probe into Cgarh’s Agusta-Westland helicopter scam

In much crucial case of Agusta-Westland helicopter purchase scam, the Supreme Court has reserved its order on the petition demanding Special Investigation Team probe into the wrongdoings by the then government of Chhattisgarh.

It need be mentioned that Congress Legislature Party leader TS Singhdeo and Swaraj India petitioners Rakesh Choubey had filed petitions in the case.

It need be recalled that the Chhattisgarh government had purchased Agusta-Westland helicopter back in year 2007 and later many alleged that a major scam has been effected in the deal.

It was alleged that Chhattisgarh government paid a hefty 65.7 million us dollar for the helicopter out of which a sum of around Rs 15.7 million us dollars were paid as a commission.

The issue later began jolting the state polity as well and the former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi had then written to the Enforcement Directorate for elaborate probe into the issue.
