With rain causing havoc in southern state of Kerala, it is learnt that close to seventy tourists are now trapped in Idukki district of the state.
The tourists are said to have been stranded in a resort in the popular tea county of Munnar.
Sources confirme that the roads leading to the resort are blocked due to landslides.
The state government has earlier summoned the Army to provide rescue operations.
It need be recalled that so far 26 people have been killed southern state due to heavy rains and landslides across different parts of the state.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the United States consulate in Chennai had issued a travel alert and advised the US citizens to avoid visiting areas affected by landslides and flashfloods.
There are, however, no fresh reports of flooding and landslides in the district.>
