#1 messaging app WhatsApp is searching for a professional to help its monetisation efforts as the company looks to become profitable. The Facebook-owned messaging app with over a billion users is looking for “an exceptional individual to lead product development for our monetization efforts,” according to a blog by a company executive. WhatsApp has been mulling over how to use payments technologies to monetise its user base; in fact, the app is expected to receive UPI support by the end of the year.
More than a billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family. It is a free app and the company does not make money out of it.Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 billion in early 2014.
