Mobile internet suspended as gunfight ensues in J&K

Security forces act on a tip off to dig out terrorists


A gunfight erupted between the security forces and militants on Friday morning in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.

Upon receiving a tip-off about the holed-up militants, the security forces cordoned off Behrampora village in Sopore area.

“As the cordon was tightened, the militants fired at the security forces triggering the ongoing gunfight,” police sources said.So far, no reports of stone-pelting mob have surfaced. A few protesters are said to have had some minor altercations with armed forces.

Not much, however, is known about the affiliations of these holed up terrorists. Sources are yet to confirm anything about the terror gaangs they belong to

As a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile internet services in the district.
