Security forces have scored yet another top militant in their bid to root out terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
The security forces killed top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Waseem Shah in Pulwama district on Saturday.
Slain militant is said to be 23-year-old and was the main strategist behind the unrest that was invoked last year in south Kashmir.
He was also known by the name ‘Abu Osama’.
The operation was launched after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in Litter village in Pulwama district.
The area was at first cordoned off and encounter soon started as the terrorists fired at the approaching security personnel.
Two terrorists, namely, Waseem Shah and Nisar Ahmed Mir, have been killed and the security forces have recovered an AK-47 and an AK-56 along with 6 AK magazines.
Today’s encounter in Pulwama’s Litter area was the first counter-insurgency operation in the village in four years.>
