Senior Taliban commander killed in US drone strike; heres more
The Pakistani Taliban has confirmed the death of their deputy leader in a recent US drone strike.
They said that the drone strike had been carried out in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region.
One Azam Tariq Mehsud, who is said to be spokesman for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, confirmed that group’s deputy chief identified as Khalid Mehsud was indeed killed in US drone strike.
He was also known as Commander Sajna.
His killing came about in the border village of Gorwak in North Waziristan.
He also said that after the assassination of the Commander Sajna, Mufti Noor Wali has now been appointed as the group’s deputy chief.
Pakistani officials had earlier reported unconfirmed reports about Sajna’s killing in a US strike.>
