Equity benchmarks, Nifty50 and Sensex ended Friday’s session on a higher note, backed by gains in IT, PSU banks and auto stocks.
Both Nifty50 and Sensex hit fresh record highs of 10,501 and 33,964, respectively, on Friday.
While Nifty50 settled 53 points up at 10,493, Sensex closed Friday’s session 184 points up at 33,940.
In line with benchmark indices, BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices too hit fresh record highs of 17,654 and 19,054, respectively.
In the Nifty50 index, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Bajaj Finance, Tata Consultancy ServicesBSE 1.76 %, Hindalco IndustriesBSE 1.75 %, Infosys, Wipro, Bajaj Auto, State Bank of India, Bharti AirtelBSE 0.98 % and Axis BankBSE 0.75 % stood among the top gainers.
However, UltraTech Cement, LupinBSE -0.92 %, Dr Reddy’s Labs,Coal India, Tata Steel, HCL TechnologiesBSE -0.11 %, Ambuja Cements, Aurobindo PharmaBSE -0.20 %, Hero MotoCorp and IndusInd Bank remained among the top losers.
Nifty IT index emerged as the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE due to gains in MindTreeBSE 4.18 %, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro.
Out of 50 stocks in the Nifty50 pack, 29 were in the green, 20 in the red and one stock was appearing unchanged when markets closed.
As many as 134 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs, whereas 5 stocks hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE on Friday.>
