The NSE Nifty50 and Sensex settled in the green zone on Tuesday after hitting fresh record highs of 10,545 and 34,062, respectively, extending the gains for the second consecutive session.
The Nifty50 index closed Tuesday’s session 39 points up at 10,532, while 30-share Sensex settled 70 points up at 34,011.
With a gain of over 3 per cent, Bharti AirtelBSE 2.59 % settled as the top gainer, followed by Ambuja CementsBSE 1.74 %, CiplaBSE 1.91 %, Bosch, VedantaBSE 1.68% and Reliance Industries
On the other hand, Coal India, State Bank of IndiaBSE -0.94 %, Indian Oil CorporationBSE -0.40 %, NTPCBSE -1.14 %, Hindustan Unilever and Mahindra & Mahindra remained among the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
Among the sectoral indices on the NSE, Nifty Metal remained at the top, followed by realty and pharma indices.
Barring Nifty PSU Bank all other sectoral indices settled in the green on Tuesday.
As many as 167 stocks, including Binani Industries, Dilip Buildcon, DLF, GAIL (India), Greenlam Industries and The Grob Tea Company hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Tuesday.
On the other hand, DPSC, Gangotri Textiles, Hanung Toys and Textiles, Infomedia Press and Khaitan Electricals remained among the 11 stocks that hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.
Out of 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 32 closed in the green, while 18 in the red on Tuesday.
