With Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, NTPC, Tata Steel and Hindustan Unilever major gainers for the day, the benchmark BSE Sensex climbed over 150 points in Tuesday early trade.
This is also being credited to the investors widening their positions ahead of quarterly earnings from some bluechip companies. The Asian markets have also been indicating positivity so far.
Moreover, continuous buying by domestic financial institutions also supported trading sentiment.
Major gainers were ONGC, NTPC, Tata Steel and Hindustan Unilever. Domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs307.84 crore in Monday’s trade, as per provisional data issued by the stock exchanges.
Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 0.12% and Nikkei gained 0.17%, while Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.09% in early trade. The US Dow Jones shed 0.23% on Monday.>
