Domestic benchmark, indices climbed in Monday’s trade amid firm cues from global markets. Gains on the indices were led by private banks and select index heavyweights such as Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro and Tata SteelBSE 1.43 %. At 9.20 am, BSE Sensex was trading 134.09 points, or 0.35 per cent, higher at 34,263.22. Nifty50 advanced 44.45 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 10,535.50. Fear gauge, India VIX eased 1.46 per cent to 13.99.
Shares of MVL (up 12 per cent), Monnet Ispat and EnergyBSE 9.94 % (up 9.62 per cent) and CIL Nova Petrochemicals (up 9 per cent) were among the top gainers on the NSE in morning trade on Monday, reflecting the bullish market sentiment.
Stocks such as Windsor Machines (up 6.46 per cent), Oberoi Realty (up 6.41 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 6.22 per cent), Navneet Education (up 6.15 per cent) and Celebrity Fashions (up 6.13 per cent) jumped over 6 per cent on the NSE.
Sentiments bolstered in all Asian markets following positive cues from Wall Street.
Punjab National Bank, Bharti Infratel, SAILBSE -0.06 %, Ashok Leyland, Tata MotorsBSE 2.86 % were among the most traded stocks on the NSE.
The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 67 points up at 10,559, while the BSE Sensex was 220 points up at 34,362 around 10:10 am (IST).
Tata Motors, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, IndusInd Bank, Hindalco IndustriesBSE 1.20 % and Tata Steel were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index, while Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Sun Pharmaceutical IndustriesBSE -1.45 %, Tata Consultancy ServicesBSE -0.62 %, NTPC and Infosys were among the top losers.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 38 were in the green, while 12 were in the red.
