Awaiting second quarter earnings that is set to commence from Tuesday, investors consolidated some gains that were visible on the equity benchmarks on Monday. While the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex climbed till 40.58 points to touch 31,854.80, the National Stock Exchange gained 6 points to touch 9,985.70.
Meanwhile, European stocks opened higher as the investors kept tabs on the political instability unfolding in Spain as well as crucial of European finance ministers in Luxembourg. Political instability in Spain continues to simmer away, with hundreds of thousands of protesters gathering in Catalonia’s capital Barcelona over the weekend to protest against a resurgent independence movement that has been gathering steam in recent days.
