Sensex tanks 50 pts; domestic instt investors provide support

Due to heavy selling in oil and gas as also the consumer durables and banking stocks, the Sensex on Thursday lost some of its initial gains and tanked almost by 50 points. The top Sensex gainers included Mahindra and Mahindra, Coal India and Kotak Bank. While domestic institutional investors were seen buying, the foreign investors dumped equities. Asian cues remained by and large positive.
