Bhilai: With the arrest of six persons including three sex workers, Police claimed to have busted an organized prostitution racket which was operational at a Lodge in Power House area. Two of the sex workers hail from West Bengal while the third one is local. The three men arrested in this case include a customer, agent and the lodge manager.
CSP (Chhawani) Vishwas Chandrakar informed that on directions of SP Prashant Thakur and ASP (City) Rohit Jha, they are conducting intensive operations against the illegal activities of betting, gambling, bootlegging, prostitution, etc. The network of informers has been activated for collecting information regarding the illegal and immoral activities. In this sequel, police received a tip off regarding a sex-racket which was operational from Suvidha Lodge situated in Mahatma Gandhi Market area of Power House, Chhawani.
Taking the matter into serious cognizance, Police team led by Probationary DSP Dr Chitra Verma and Inspector Vinay Baghel (SHO, Chhawani) swung into action and conducted a raid at the lodge. All the rooms of the lodge were searched. Police found suspicious presence of three females in the building. On strict questioning, Lodge Manager Abhishek Dhawal confessed that he was conducting a prostitution racket in the lodge.
On the basis of his statement, three female sex workers, a male agent and a male customer were taken in custody. Dhawal further stated that he was conducting such illegal activities in the lodge for earning money. Police seized the money earned from this illegal activity as well as other items from the manager’s counter.
The arrested accused are identified as Abhishek Dhawal (25) son of Dhananjay Dhawal a native of Baikura (WB) and resident of Suvidha Lodge, Chhawani; Sunny Chaudhary (19) son of Ajay Chaudhary a resident of Zone3, Khursipar; Khabir Sheikh (39) son of Noor Muhammad a native of West Bengal and resident of Newai and three female sex workers.
