Shoe hurled at Owaisi in public meet; heres what he said on the incident
Outspoken and well known across the country, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was voicing his opposition to the triple talaq bill at a rally when a man threw shoe at him.
The incident is said to have happened in Nagpada of South Mumbai.
Though police rushed in to his rescue, they did admit that the Member of Parliament was not hurt.
The Mumbai police have identified the person and may look at arresting him.
However, Owaisi had different take to the incident and said that such incidents are being carried out by people who cannot tolerate his views on triple talaq bill even though its the right view.
He also took potshots at the attack and said that such people (who threw shoe at him) believe in the ideology of those who killed Mahatma Gandhi or even Narendra Dabholkar.
AIMIM MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel said Owaisi was unhurt and continued his speech after the incident.
The AIMIM chief had earlier described the triple talaq bill as a conspiracy against Muslims and a move to punish men from the community.>
