With concerns growing over Doklam as the summer is arriving, the Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asserted that India is vigilant and ready to counter any threat in Doklam.
The previously unheard of rather deserted area has shot into limelight after India and China locked horns over it last year.
She said that India is alert and is undertaking modernization of forces to be able to meet any challenge.
She promised to maintain territorial integrity of the nation.
Her comments came a day after Indian envoy to China Gautam Bambawale said that the Doklam crisis started because the Chinese military changed the status quo in the region.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now scheduled to visit Qingdao in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit on June 9-10.
The two countries have also been talking about the need to cooperate for economic development.>
