In cricket, South Africa Women has registered a series-clinching six-wicket win against Indian Women in the second T20 International played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The nervy run chase by South Africa Women ended in a nail-biting last-ball thriller.
Chasing a target of 159, the South African team managed to win the match on the last ball of the final over. South Africa Women now has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
This was South Africa’s first T20 series win against India. For India, Shafali Verma scored 47 runs in her 31-ball innings and forged a 79-run partnership with Harleen Deol who scored 31 runs.
Richa Ghosh provided a late boost with a 26-ball 44 not out to help India post a total of 158 runs.
Chasing the target, South Africa’s Lizelle Lee smashed a 45-ball 70 while Laura Wolvaardt slammed an unbeaten 39-ball 53 to drive home the historic win. The third and final T20 will be played at the same venue tomorrow.
