It is now learnt that a Special Police Officer (SPO) who is accused of escaping with eight firearms last week, may have joined the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.
Police sources in Jammu and Kashmir have said that the pictures of SPO Adil Bashir posing with an AK-47 rifle alongside Hizbul commander Zeenat-ul-Islam went viral on social media.
It is then that the police could confirm that the SPO has jumped onto the other side of the ideology.
The police said that they have identified the civilian with whose help Adil Bashir managed to flee with seven AK-47 rifles.
He had also managed to flee with a pistol on Sept 28.
The weapons were stolen from the official residence of MLA Aijaz Mir in Srinagar’s Jawahar Nagar area.
The police have detained 10 of the legislator’s personal security guards for questioning.>
