State administration hands over satellite phones to disaster management authorities

Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works) and Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Manisha Nanda handed over the satellite phones to District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) during a meeting held here today.

She said that communication becomes the most vital part during the course of any disaster. She said that these satellite phones would prove very handy in the disaster management, especially in the tribal and remote areas of the state.

Manisha Nanda said that the satellite phones would be provided at the Sub Divisional level in the next phase.

She said that it is on the initiative of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur that that these phones have been provided to the DDMAs. In addition to this, 15 VSATs would also be provided to the districts in the times to come.

Special Secretary, HPSDMA D.C Rana conducted the proceedings of the meeting.

The DDMAs were also given hand-on training regarding the use of satellite phones on this occasion.
