The State Bank of India has now given an ultimatum to its consumers regarding internet banking facilities.
As per the bank directive, the State Bank of India (SBI) account holders’ net banking services may be blocked if they do not link registered mobile number with the bank by the December 1, 2018 deadline.
Individuals should note that the bank has already intimidated users on its net banking website about the directive.
The mobile number, if not registered, has to be done via a physical branch.
It was also said that failing to do so will result in service disruption after December 1.
The SBI, in its website pointed out that “Attention INB users, please register your mobile number with us immediately, if not already done, through Branch, failing which the Internet Banking Facility may be blocked with effect from 01.12.2018.”
A circular released by the RBI dated July 6, 2017, clearly stated that banks have to ask their customers to register for SMS and email alerts.
In case, customers fail to get their mobile number registered, net-banking and mobile banking services will be affected. >
