Sudden surge in encounters in Uttar Pradesh; results in many arrests, one killing

Already in news for encounters, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed all the more police encounters over past 24 hours leading to death of at least two men so far.

The encounters have taken place in western Uttar Pradesh.

It is also said that five others who are alleged to be involved in several criminal cases in UP were injured during gunfights with the police.

While in the first incident that took place in Noida, police gunned down one Shravan Chaudhary, who was wanted in murder cases in Noida and Delhi.

There was a brief exchange of fire after which the criminal was shot dead.

The criminal was carrying reward of Rs. 50,000 for his arrest and police have recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and a heavy-calibre single-barrelled gun from him.

In another similar encounter that happened in Dadri, a man identified as Jitendar got injured in a gun battle but he was eventually arrested.

The accused was carrying Rs. 25,000 on his head.

In another such incident, a man named Ahsan was shot dead when it was told to the police that he was escaping with a cash bag of a certain Nawab in Saharanpur.

The accused Ahsan is said to have also fired at Nawab prior to escaping with his bag.

The Uttar Pradesh police also carried out a encounter in Ghaziabad where in they shot a man by the name of Rahul.

Police have recovered motorcycle, cartridges and a gun from the deceased.

It is said that the state police carried out nearly dozen and half encounters over a period of 48 hours in which over two dozen arrests were made and a criminal was killed.
