Sudden thunderstorms claim forty over three states; admn rushes to provide rescue

Though there is anxious wait for the monsoon in India, the sudden thunderstorm and lightening striking parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as also Jharkhand led to near forty people losing their lives.

Sources informed that the Bihar alone reported as many as 19 deaths while the neighbouring Jharkhand suffered deaths of dozen leaving another over twenty injured due to lightning.

The regional Met Office has forecast muggy weather and dust storms in some parts of central and eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours.

Again, while nine people were killed in thunderstorm and lightning in Unnao, Kanpur and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, five deaths were reported as lightning struck some parts of Unnao district on Monday night.

Rescue work is being carried out in the state as the district magistrates have been asked to provide relief material to people in the next 24 hours, state administration sources added.
