Supreme Court hears Padmavat case; pulls up states for their petitions
The Padmavat saga was heard in the Supreme Court today wherein the apex court pulled up the petitioner states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for even taking up the issue.
The top court even refused to reconsider lifting of the ban on the film Padmavat even though the two states had cited law and order as argument.
The SC also directed the two states to take steps to maintain law and order in view of the film.
The movie is scheduled to release January 25.
It need be mentioned that the top court had only last week lifted a ban on the film by Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The protests by the various fringe groups against this film is due to allegations that it distorts history or shows the Rajput community in bad light.
