Supreme Court rejects demands for independent probe into death of judge Loya

Apex Court concluded that there is no reason to doubt the statements of judges who were accompanying Judge Loya.

The Supreme Court today outrightly rejected the demands for an independent probe into the death of Justice Loya.

The judges hearing the petition also ruled it to be a natural death.

The Apex Court concluded that there is no reason to doubt the statements of judges who were accompanying Judge Loya.

The ruling came as the apex court heard the a batch of pleas seeking an independent probe into the alleged mysterious death of special CBI judge BH Loya.

It was judge Loya who had been hearing the case of the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter.

The Supreme Court even came to the conclusion that there was no reason to doubt that the death was anything but natural.

The Supreme Court also noted that the petition itself was an attempt to launch a frontal attack on the judiciary.

It need be mentioned that the senior advocates Dushyant Dave, Indira Jaising and Prashant Bhushan were amongst those who had sought probe into the matter.

It may be recalled that Judge Loya had allegedly died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014.

He had apparently gone there to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.
