Insistent that central government forms Cauvery river water management board at the earliest, the Tamil Nadu government is now taking the central government to court for contempt.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister made the announcement after the central government failed to form the Cauvery Water Management Board.
It need be mentioned that the order from the Supreme Court gave the Central government six weeks to form the Board.
As the deadline expired on Thursday,it emerged that the central government decided to go back to the top court and ask for clarifications on its order.
It is said that the central government is likely to file its petition on Saturday.
However,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswami went into a huddle with his ministers and concluded at the end of it that the state should take legal recourse.
There is a feeling in Tamil Nadu that central government wants to score brownie points in poll bound Karnataka and the move to delay the board management constitution may be aimed at that.
Tamil Nadu expects a water management board to ensure timely release of water.>
