Tanushree Dutta today, slapped a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Rakhi Sawant for accusing her of consuming drugs on the sets of the 2008 movie ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’.
The lawsuit comes a fortnight after Dutta had outed her ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ co-star Nana Patekar of sexual misbehaviour on the sets of the same film.
Sawant, who had eventually replaced Dutta in the film, hit back at her accusations, claiming that the latter had “consumed drugs and was consequently unconscious for four hours on the set.”
Dutta’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute, said that if Sawant fails to respond, she may face punishment for two years or a fine or both.
The ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ actress, who has spearheaded the #MeToo movement in the country, had earlier filed a police complaint against Patekar at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station. She demanded that Patekar be subjected to narco-analysis, brain mapping and lie-detector tests.
The #MeToo movement in India has gained momentum since Dutta’s claims against Patekar with many prominent film and media personalities, including Vikas Bahl, Anu Malik, Alok Nath, being called out for harassment.
