With pressure mounting on the Telugu Desam Party on the need to extract the special category status for Andhra state from the central government, the party Members of Parliament have gone ahead and protested Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi.
The TDP MPs raised slogans and also held placards at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, which is the Prime Minister’s residence in the national capital.
Police moved in swiftly and detained the agitators at the Tughlak Road police station.
The party had earlier attempted introducing the no-confidence motion against the central government.
It need be mentioned that TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in a tele-conferencing the same morning had asked the party’s MPs to intensify their protest in the capital on the issue.>
