With Nipah virus now a real threat, the Telangana government is not taking any chances.
It has now sent in sent blood samples and throat swabs of two patients suffering from fever to the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
The tests will be done to ascertain Nipah virus infection.
It was informed that while one of the patients recently visited Kerala but not Kozhikode where the disease is prevalent, the other patient never visited Kerala in recent times.
The patient, who reportedly visited Kerala, was first admitted to a private hospital with fever.
The second patient is undergoing treatment at Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences.
He said all important hospitals across the state have been asked to be on alert with regard to the virus.
In Kerala, the Nipah virus has so far claimed 11 lives and the State government has stepped up efforts to contain the outbreak.>
