Thane school bans veil; heres how they explained the order
Citing security reasons, a private school in Thane (Maharashtra) has prohibited the Muslim girl students from wearing hijab in the premises.
The controversial order was issued by the Symbiosis Convent High School in Mumbra school after, as per sources, security could not confirm to the parents earlier if their girls had actually left the school or not because they might have left in a veil.
This incident prompted the school administration to issue order that school students would not be permitted hijab on campus and even as they leave the school premises to be sure that they have left.
The order however has left some of the Muslim parents aggrieved.
As parents expressed their unhappiness over the decision, the school administration clarified that the step did not intend to hurt religious sentiments.
The school administration recalled how there had been what they suspect to be attempt on abduction of girl students taking cover of the hijab or veil after which the order had to be issued. >
