The polling has begun for the Haryana Assembly elections on Monday, 21 October. Meanwhile, Director General of Police Manoj Yadava appealed to people to reach their respective polling stations in large numbers and cast vote without any fear.
As many as 1,169 candidates will battle it out for the 90 seats on offer, with the primary contest being between the BJP and the Congress. The other players include the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).
While the BJP is eyeing more than 75 seats in Assembly and has given the slogan ‘Ab ki baar, 75 paar’ , the Congress has been bogged down by infighting, with its state president Ashok Tanwar having resigned from the party just days before polls.
