As the gruesome killing of five people in Assam’s Tinsukia district came about, there was a lone survivor too.
Identified as Sahadev Namashudra, he recalled the terror he went through the previous day when gunmen, suspected to be militants, shot dead five civilians.
It emerged that Namashudra is the sole survivor of the bloody incident.
The incident took place at Kheraibari in Tinsukia district late on Thursday evening.
He said that a group of people in Army fatigue came to his shop around 7.45 p.m and summoned them outside.
He added that they took them to a nearby place, asked them to line up.
Namashudra said that as they lined up, he suddenly heard gunfire after which he jumped towards a low land.
He could hear more rounds of gunfire but continued to lie their for several minutes.
According to him, when the killers who he feels were militants left the scene, they were conversing in Assamese.
The ULFA denied it carried out the killings and Bengali Hindu groups in Tinsukia district have called a shutdown in Tinsukia district to protest against the killings.>
